So, I got behind again. Might as well catch up now and vow to post AT LEAST once a week. As much as I sit at the computer that should be easy right?

To recap April’s training… I didn’t even manage to get in 70 miles. That was disappointing. But I had issues with my shoes. I’ve been running in Asics 2110’s & 2130’s for the last few years. For Christmas I got the 2140’s in the same size as usual… 7.5. I put yankz in them. I don’t know if the laces were part of this problem or not… BUT… after about 150 miles on the shoes, my feet were getting worse and worse. Pain on the top and side of my left foot. Black toenails. Sore toes. A blister on the bunion on my right foot. I had a couple of runs in mid-April that I had to just stop and walk because of the pain in my feet.

So, I went back to an older pair of 2110’s. Ran a week or so, no problems. I don’t know if they changed the design too much or if the sizing is different. I’ve just decided running shoes are sized crazy anyway. I wear a 6.5 in dress shoes/ high heels. I guess I need an 8 in running shoes. Whatever works to make my feet no hurt, I’m game.

April 18th – We ran the Perry Dogwood Festival 5K. I did pretty good on my time. I think it was 25:47. Chuck beat me and had a major PR. This was the first race he toasted me on. I’m proud of him! My Mom PR’ed on this race too.

Later that afternoon we went to Dauset Trails to learn how to Orienteer. That was pretty fun. I wanted to do it since we have been contemplating doing an Adventure Race. Plus I’d never been out to Dauset Trails before.

April 25th was my daughter, Shyenne’s 8th Birthday. She got to have her best friend over, have donuts for breakfast, got hair and nails done…. A nice pretty girly cake. She was a little princess for the day.

May 2nd we ran a pretty good 10K. My time was 57:13. Nothing phenomenal, but I was happy with it for the most part.

I’ve taken my mountain bike out a few times since I got it. We rode the Pig Trail twice. The first time we rode I started on the more technical side and ended up walking more than riding. Once I did get on the bike I screamed like a girl plenty! Only while careening down hills with pine trees flashing by on both sides of me…. Just that! The second time we went out there I did much better.

May 19th we ran the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. I really enjoy doing that run. I’ve run it 2 times in the past. This time we ran from City Hall in Macon to Wesleyan College. It was about 5.6 miles. There were about 8 of us out there. It’s was fun to get to run down Vineville at noon and have Police escort the entire time. Later that afternoon we went out to LH Thompson and ran the trail, just got 3 miles in.

We are training to run the 15K Trail Race at Dauset Trails on June 7th. I think we are good to go on that race. Mom bought me a pair of trail running shoes. They are Nikes, Avlord I think. Which is crazy for me. I havn't run in Nike in 6 years. I got a size 8.5, theres lots of room in the toe area. I've run in them twice so far and I am happy with thime.

I have been eating VERY clean for the last 3.5 weeks. Trying to get off a few pounds I put on while we were in Jacksonville in March. BAD GIRL.... But I feel SO much better when I'm not eating junk food at all. I'm eating a lot of protien and trying to go easy on carbs, and only whole grains when I do eat them.

Now back to the stupid 2140's that hurt my feet. I decided (I guess I was smoking crack) to wear them again for my long run... yes I said long run... on last Saturday. This was a 9 mile long run to be exact. At about mile 5 I felt the new blister forming on my bunion. After the run I had that blister plus one on a little toe, plus a nice black toenail. Now my feet are sore and feel abused from that run. I WILL NOT wear those stupid shoes to run in again. I can wear them to the gym and to spin... that's IT!

Sorry for the choppy post. But I will try to keep up more often. My goal for the month is 100 miles and I’ve already gotten 77 in. It’s only the 21st, so I should be good to go!
